I'm moving across town and I'm trying to figure out what order I should move the tank in. I figured I would move my fish in a 5 gallon bucket, and I'm just gonna drain my tank, put it in a box and pack it. I was planning on setting it up shortly after arriving at the new place. Should I try and put it in my car? Should I just pack it in the back of the uhaul truck? Any advice on relocating tanks would be most appreciated. thanks.

Your tank should be the last thing that leaves the old place and the first thing that is put up in the new place.

Absolutely your car. Your backseat is much safer, softer than a U-Haul.

This is somewhat overkill compared to what you are doing, but maybe it helps. --> CLICK <--

Think waterchange: Use a hose. Then a sponge for the last bit. Your gravel holds bacteria, you should rinse it with tank water and re-use it.

Best of luck,

Keep your filter media in a bucket of your tank water. Don't let it dry out our you risk killing of your beneficial bacteria.

He doesn't even have to get the media out of the filter. The transfer of the filter shouldn't take longer than an hour if he moves within the same city.

I would also recommend using a battery operated air pump for the bucket it as well.
