Need help sexing a cuban cichlid

Hello, I have a 2.5 inch cuban I resuced from a friend of a friend about a week ago , he had the poor guy in a 5 gallon for the last 5 months , anyways I was wondering if anyone could help on the sex if him or her?

Here is a female, 3-4".

Now a male, maybe 6 to 8 " at the time..

You've left out one of the most important indicators of gender in your photo, the dorsal fin.
Yours looks like a male to me, but at that size, and without being able to see the dorsal, and because its just a baby, its a bit of a toss up.

Too young to tell. I would grow it out more and repost.

thanks for the advice, i left out some major details i guess lol i think you may be right with your guess of male though, theres a small female convict in the tank with him and the 2 seem to have hit it off, they dug a hole and are inseparable
