Need help sexing Jag

Although it outwardly looks female to me, there are many factors that influence outward appearance, such as a more dominant male in the tank. Sub dominant males often adopt female appearance when a more dominant male (of any cichlid species) is in the same tank.

I have a Texas in the same tank with this Jag, and s/he is not at all submissive. Infact I had once put her/him with a 12inch oscar in his tank and s/he nipped his fins and made his life hell, poor guy..

So I suppose it's safe to assume that it's a female then?

The coloration and forehead slope, look female to me, but...
the jaw line looks male, and now that you mention the Texas (already owner and alpha in the tank) the jag may be hiding its male-ness to avoid being attacked, if it is a male
