Hi my name is Chris and my i just can't seem to get rid of this weird algae i have no idea what it is, i have tried lots of things to get rid of it.
Doing frequent water changes, bought a UV lighting thinking that would help but it didn't. Have Co2 going in the tank. Well anyways could someone just take a look at the picture and possibly give me some advice thanks.
Its just clogs up my tubes, and i have to keep cleaning them. Also its a 180 gallon tank. Any help will be greatly appreciated.:)

Nice set-up:headbang2

Is this a problem at the input of the sump too?

Where is the UV hooked in?

Have you tested the co2 level in the water, it's the first thing that comes to mind with the limited amount of plants in the tank.

Also looks well lit, what kind of lighting?

Thanks for the welcome:)

..yes it is

...to the sump

....no i haven't tested for the CO2

Also looks well lit, what kind of lighting?

....t8 lighting from home depot its made for aquarium life

so whats the next step then? thanks for the replies so far:D

yah i can test for it, i have the whole kit for testing.
I will give back the amount of CO2 after i am done testing.:)

All my filter tubes have that gunk in them. It's just built up crud, doesn't hurt anything. You can clean it out with flexible hose brushes but it will come back.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

all of my xp3 and my original xp1 has the same crud in the tubes. it dosent seem like a problem unless its so built up its literally choking the water flow. in which case, i think you'd have much bigger issues than just cleaning the stuff.

just brush it out every few months when you do a major tank cleaning (removing every last bit of decor, cleaning them down etc...)

yah maybe i guesss its normal, oh yah the CO2 level is 9 so i guess thats pretty good right? anyways thanks for all the comments much appreciated.
If anyone thinks of anything else just let me know, but like all you say its just normal so i guess i won't worry:)
