Hello,
I have a running 50 gallon with assorted cichlids and botias, but im donating them to my LFS because Botias are too high matienence while I start a apprenticeship.
Now, Im having troubles deciding what to re stock my tank as. I want something(s) not too high matinence (I.e 25% waterchanges bi weekly is acceptable for me.) and I was thinking going for something predatory, but I want more then one big fish. Any suggestions for a 50 gallon predatory tank/cichlid tank?

Here's a couple of fish I looked into (assuming you want freshwater fish):
dwarf pike cichlids
pictus catfish school
freshwater barracudas
leaf fish/ climbing perch
polypterids
I think that depending on the species you can house about 6-8 of the dwarf pikes. A shoal of 3 pictus catfish would also look nice. You could also try some freshwater barracudas. Leaf fish or climbing perch you could do maybe 3. Umm...idk about polypterids. Maybe 2-3 of the smaller senegals? Of course, not all of these, just one group.

I'm not sure what exactly you want in your predator fish, as I'm thinking of ambushers (leaf fish, polypterids, barracuda). If you're looking for something piranha-esque, maybe some Exodon paradoxus in a school of say...15?

DISCLAIMER: I have only kept pictus catfish once, and done medium research on barracudas, leaf fish/ climbing perch, and polypterids, and a quick internet search on dwarf pike cichlids. I have never kept any majorly predatory fish. Somebody with experience keeping any of the above should definitely chime in here on appropriate dimensions.
