thankyou anne,i knew you would be along to answer lol.thanks once again for your comprehensive list  it gives me loads of ideas.what would you put in with the 2 x senegals ?????

I would start of with Anne's list and see which fish you like. Senegals are generally peaceful fish and will get along with any other fish as long as they're too big too eat and not aggressive to the bichirs. I've tried the leopard ctenopoma, silver dollars, and clown loaches on mine.

i'm looking for fish at every level in the tank.what would be an interesting fish that would stay at the top level in the tank????what about the middle of the tank???? would green/red terrors fit in???? or would they be too boisterous for the senegals????maybe cichlids of some sort????what about semaprochilodus taeniurus ?????my lfs has taeniurus and i think they are stunning.would taeniurus fit in with the senegals ????if so,would they all fit in with any cichlids???? what about jack dempseys????

For a top dweller, the african butterfly fish is probably the best choice and maybe the only choice. For mid, the ctenopoma or a school of silver dollars. As far as cichlids go, I think it will depend on the personality of the individual fish. Some are more aggressive than others while some would get along with any fish. I know some people here keep their bichirs with cichlids of all kinds. I think the semaprochilodus taeniurus would work well but I believe they're herbivores so you gotta feed them differently from the bichirs.

my lfs has 2 x black ghost knifes.if i bought these 2,what else could i add?????could i add a semaprochilodus taeniurus.my lfs has a small one about 2-3 inches long.the black knifes are about the same size.
what about snakeheads????are there any that would fit in with my 2 x senegals?????
