I recently put a black background on my tank, the next day my jd started attacking my little green terror, who he lived in harmony with since the time it could fit in the jd's mouth . The jd nearly destroyed him so I had to give it away , and now about three days later my oscar has been snapping and relentlessly chasing the gt and making sure it stays in one corner. if it moves it goes absoulutely insane and chases it back there , then goes about it's business.

could this be from the addition of the back ground? They can see their reflection and have been attacking them since I put it on , could this be the cause of the fighting? , and how can I stop it??

I just realized that by removing the jd I probably upset the heiarchy of the tank....and now they're just rearranging the pecking order.

Hello, I think that by adding the black background you have created a mirror and unintentionally doubled the amount of fish " not physically" but mentally, and this could be a stressing factor for your fish.

should I remove it or will they just adjust intime?
