Ok so, I'm moving to Carbondale, IL in a few months and I was scoping out some good places to fish some for some nice bluegill free vittles. But I'm having some issues with interpreting the regulations for this lake. The lake in question is called Crab Orchard Lake, the wildlife refuge underneath the regulations.

If I'm reading this correctly, and I'd like some help to verify this, that according to the into creel/daily limites and the site specific regulations, that I could fish there all day and take home as much Channel Catfish and Bluegills as wanted, and there is also no site specific limit on Crappies, which makes them limitless as the bluegills.

But it references that if a Largemouth Bass is taken, then the daily total aggregate creel limit is 3 fish, regardless of if it's 1 bass and 2 bluegills.

But am I still correct in reading the fine print that if no bass are taken, that there is no limit as to the number of catfish, crappie, and bluegills that can be taken?

I've included the regulations link to help. The general state creel/daily limits are on page 3, and the lake specific limits are on page 14, and it is at the top of page 14, the first one, on the left, and just after Largemouth Bass where it references number (14), this is the paragragh (the number 14 one), where the regulations for me get a little fuzzy.

Also if I'm reading number 14 correctly, it means that I could take a unlimited number of Crappies even with the Bass limit?

Any thoughts?

You should contact a wildlife management officer on this for verification. Because at the end of the day its what they say that matters not what we say.
