Hey all-

I am designing plans for a 8' x 4' x 30"/36" plywood stand. The tank is a 8' x 4' x 25" and will be going in a concrete basement. The tank is glass.

Before I buy a bunch of 2x4's and start pretending I know what I am doing I was hoping for any tips or preferences you all have. I am hoping to place my sump underneath it if possible.

Any methods to stay away from? Any good threads about stands that I have missed?

Thanks all!

Thanks for the link, I like that build a lot. Definitely something I am going to consider.

The main thing with stands, IMO, is to make sure the wieght is supported by the floor via the wood. Not by the wood via nails and screws.

If that makes sence...

:iagree:Good advice. It makes perfect scents. :j/k:

I'll try to find the pics from my 300g that I did. I bassically used 4x4s for the verticals So I had 8 legs then I made 2 bases made out of 2x6s so you have a top base and a bottom base. Screwed and bolted the legs to the upper and lower base and braced accordingly. The pics will explain it better, I'll get them up in a bit

Thanks, looking forward to it. I plan to tackle the project this weekend.
