I want my gar to start eating pellets how can i do that the only way i can feed him is by handfeeding him feeders which i got bit but didnt hurt because hes small.

starve for a few days and offer bloodworm. then when he is taking bw starve again for couple days then try bw soaked pellets.

or you could just go cold turkey - a hungry fish wont starve itself....

Whether or not you should try anything which involves starving the Gar depends exclusively on how big he is.

For a baby gar, pellet-training via starvation is a very bad idea.

For all my gars (FL and Gators), I had the following regime:

1. From 4" to 6"-7": feeders, blood worm
2. From 6" to 10": Blood worm, Jumbo Krill, prawns
3. From 10" to date (18"-20"): Hikari pellets, a range of fresh sea-food primarily consisting of Prawns and whole fish (silver sides and Golden Anchovies).

since you say the gar is small, i would just offer qurantined feeders.
Do not attempt the starvation method, that usually only works on older juvenile gars.
Young gars need to have food readily available to them.

I agree with the arguments here....my question will be that juvenile gars are hungry all the time and my experience is they tend to swallow anything you feed them....?

Make sure ur gar is abt 8" and abv before starving them,if u start starving them younger, they might die. After starving for abt a week, drop some pellets.*Beaware that sometimes floridas and some others take a longer time than gators to be converted to pellets

they might. a lot of my gars required little or no starvation/"training". they will tend to just accept pellets. that being said, they should have feeders available to them 24/7 until they are ~8"
