Here's a question I hope somebody can answer. I now have a Sen. Bichir, a Brown African Knife, and Ompock catfish and two Clown Loaches. I'm definitely getting two more Sen. Bichirs and probably one Del at some point in the future. I know loaches are schooling fish. Would by 110g be too cramped if I add 1-3 more clown loaches to it? I've only ever had one large fish and that was my 14" common pleco. Everything else has been under 6" and I'm having a hard time visualizing a bunch of 10"+ fish in a tank!

I was also thinking about adding a Black Ghost Knife, to be moved to a different tank if aggression issues started, but am willing to give the idea up to make my other fish more comfortable. What do you guys think?

The tank is 5' long and I think 18" or so wide.

Thanks,

Kash

I would only add one or two more loaches and one more bichir, the loaches need lots of swimming room adding more will crowd the bottom of the tank
Also I wouldnt try mixing the knives as the electric fields they give out can mess with the other knives sensory organs (not 100% sure about this fact, hopefully someone can back me up on it)

That's what I've heard too about the knives. I guess it's really not worth risking it. So just sticking to the clown loach and bichir additions. Any ideas on top or middle level swimmers that can get along with my fish?

I have Hujeta Gar (or Rocket Gar) at the top of my oddball tank. Great fish to watch hunt + easy to get onto dead foods in my experience :)

I would have a group of atleast 8 clown loaches in a tank that big or more the more the better and they don't grow very fast and I'm assuming your buying small as the larger ones tend to cost a pretty penny atleast around me.

keeperdk, thanks for the suggestion. Didn't know a smaller Gar like that even existed, will definitely look into it.

djlamonica, yes, the ones I'm buying are only about 2" long and my lfs sells them for 11 or 12 bucks. The lfs manager that I've known for some time and has a 300g tank was telling me about how slow they grow and that I could put 10 or 12 in there! I think I'm probably gonna end up with a school of about 5 for now (I got some tiger barbs the other day that my loach is happily schooling with, so might add a few more of them too.)

Thanks for the replies.
