I recently say some snake-like aquatic animals at a show and wanted to get some information on them before deciding whether to purchase them. They were long and solid black. They were young and about 10in long, but vendor said they reach 3 to 4 feet. They looked like snakes with small legs or newts with extremely long midsections. Does anyone know what these are? I thought the name started with Anph or something like that, but I may be completely wrong.

Thanks, that is it exactly. Just curious, do you have any pros/cons of purchasing these. Or any info if they could be kept with fish? I currently have a 150 gallon take empty and looking for ideas.

ampiumas can bite- hard.
but other than that, they're pretty easy to care for.
i fed mine shrimp, silversides, krill, and sometimes quarantined feeders.
