Need help with a Reef octopus bh-300 skimmer

Any help would be greatly appreciate. It came with a tank that I bought last night and dint have any instructions with it. And to top it off I have never used a protein skimmer before. 
Just put in on the aquarium and plug it in; adjust the collection cups up or down depending on how much gunk the skimmer produces once it gets broken in.
You may need to add saltwater to the aquarium once the skimmer is up & running as a small amount will end up in the skimmer.

I was just wanting to make shure I had it set up correctly before adding it to tank. Ty
