need help with arowana food

hi Guys
i had put in 3 dozen goldfish/koi feeders my aowana he ate them but does not eat those arowana sticks also i just wanted to ask y cant i see my arowana eating things he does not eat anything in front of me Am i dong anything wrong?
pls help guys im new to Arowanas

Not yet used to you....as long as its eating its fine...As for the sticks,You need to train them to eat sticks i.e you starve it for a week then you put the sticks and it should accept it.Now sticks you get from the aquariums are not of good quality..You should feed it Hikari Food Sticks,it is very rare i Used to buy it from Ebay but now luckliy One of the Aquariums in kochi started importing it.This feed is expensive but its worth it...
 
i had done that but he doesn't not do anything just puts in hs mouth and spits it back
also i tried it with my other 2 aro who died and i gt scared and put feeders in the tank nxt day there are only 4 remaining of 3 dozen
so im still confused if i starve him i will be hurting him i dont want to hurt him but want him to eat the pellets and have feeders as a treat
but no luck yet
 
What your doing wrong is putting feeder fish in the tank. Just like a kid is not going to eat his vegetables if you let him eat the desert first. Feed only the pellets eventually the aro will get hungry and eat the pellets. This could take quite some time so you will have to be persistent.

Never feed live.

If it picks the sticks and spits them it is a sign that it recongizes it is food.

Starving is in order, now.
 
I feed live food to all my fish and aros. They will take any prepared foods and pellets aswell. I never understood starving fish thats nonsense. Never had any problem feeding all foods. Only a matter of time befoee they turn. No need for starvation. All my aros started eating frozen foods around 6". Most preds needs feeders when there small every day to bulk up quick. I am and always will be a firm believer in live food. Its only natural

i agree too....but the parasites...losing an asian aro is hard on you..
