hey guys, first post in long time!

im still running my 180 gal fresh water with a heavy fish load

my filtration includes a fx5 and a 30 gal w/d sump powered with a 700 gph or so pump

my water is in good shape as is
but im looking to change things up

im look to get fid of the sump and add another canister
the sump maintenance is a pia - that i don't keep up with plus my little girl has asthma and an uncovered sump aerates a lot of debris, when i open up my cabinet i can smell it and i dont like that.

i wanna plug up my bottom drilled overflows and just go over the top with a canister

my first thought was another fx5 but i want some feedback from the gurus
i want to stay with a reasonable price range... but i alseheimo always wanted a....

soo you guys have any input

Adding dual AC110s and a Rena XP3/4 would cost about the same as another FX5 (you can find some pretty cheap used XP3s). This would give you filtration diversity, easy maintenance, and nice water turnover.
On a side note, dont permanently plug your overflows! You may want to go with a sump again in the future.

Id buy another FX5 and fill it with 100% seachem pond matrix. Then I'd get a used Magnum 350 for extra water polishing. Your tank would look extra crispy with that setup.
