i noticed white spot in my tank approximately 7 days ago. only early signs of it, like 2 or 3 spots per fish so i treated as per usual with an anti parasite medication. my LFS told me to use half dosage because of the clown loaches in the tank so i've done that and now none of the fish have got it anymore but my loaches have gotten in really bad now.

can anyone tell me what has worked for them in the past for treating clown laches for white spot.

thanks in advance

I used only table salt at tablespoon per 5g and increased heat to 86 degrees. You need to dissolve it thoroughly before adding to the tank as the grains can burn their skin and potentially kill them.

In my experience increased temp (86 if your fish can handle it) and salt is the best way to treat ich. When I got my common silver dollars in late February they broke out in ich the next day. I treated with increased temp and salt, but also dosed with Rid-Ich (i just happened to have a bottle on hand). I was happy with it, ich cleared up pretty fast within a few days.

But I've never owned loaches and I'm not sure if Rid-Ich is safe for them or not. My advice would be to follow Lupin's advice ;) though I use API's freshwater aquarium salt rather than table salt, not sure if it really matters.

No, it doesn't matter whether it was aquarium salt or table salt. Table salt is barely an issue contrary to popular belief. Iodine itself was never an issue and I still do not understand where the ruckus about iodine started.

ok thanks for the advice. i have kept the temp low in this tank on purpose as this seems to reduce aggression in my CA/SA community tank. might have to bit the bullet and raise it a little.

being that i'm in australia and we are ahead of the times (jk), how does 86 degrees F convert to degrees Celcious

heat and salt. If that doesn't work, meds. If that doesn't work, cursing the world.

salt 86F, ich is pretty easy to get rid of
yeah i've never had a problem ridding it before. normally it's gone in 2 days or so, which it did, only staying on my loaches

haha already cursing the world and used meds, so i guess salt is the answer.

how much salt should i add for a 7'x2'x2.5' approx 250G

I stick to a tablespoon per 5g. That'd be 50 tablespoons. Do be sure to dissolve it thoroughly first!
