Okay, So I got 3 Needlefish/Needlenose gar (not really a gar). They have been fed live since they were born :-( I have had no luck getting them on pellet, bloodworms (frozen or freeze dried), Frozen anything. I have tried.

I was breeding guppies for my ACF (who now eats frozen and flake), but they quickly depleted my feeder tank in a couple weeks 6 males and 20ish adult females.

Would I have better luck with convicts? Are their spawns larger than guppies? Do they breed faster? can I have more than one breeding pair in a tank?

My current breeding set-up is a 15 gallon black waste basket under my fish tank stand. so its tall without a ton of surface area. I have a huge clump of java moss for the fry so they dont get eaten, but not a whole lot in it. If I get several breedin convict pairs and stack a ton of clay pots on top of one another down one side will they all breed or kill one another once the spawn comes?

15 gallon isn't big enough for one pair of convicts

Well This is the absolute max I can fit under my stand. I havent had any luck keeping fatheads/rosey reds alive. There arent any stores near me that carry feeder guppies any more, which sucks, because its the only species Ive had good luck with as feeders.

Never kept cichlids at all, never appealed to me before. I was told a 10 was more than plenty for a single pair?

i breed 4 pairs of convicts in a 15 gallon..im not proud of it but it was 100% successful.. i wouldn't do 4 pairs.. but for sure 1 pair would be fine.

sorry for the mixed messages, do what u feel is right.

heres some pics of that set up. to prove it is possible.. the fry are about 6 weeks old in the photos.. all lived, i sold them all for a small profit 100+ fry.
