need help with first plant

i just bought my first live plant for my discus tank its Cabomba but im confused because i bought it and its a bunch and the bottom which have very small roots has been tied with a cotton band like its made a bunch so i wanna ask that how should i plant it the same way i got it or i should open the bunch and plant it please rep in detail .. thanks

and one thing more after yesterday i bought it and planted it in the same way in the tank and after that i can see the temp raising dose this plant affect temperature of the tank ?

Open the bunch up.

clip the roots a tad, trim the stem in half and plant. Be Careful because the stem is very delicate. Not the best choice for your first plant.

Group them in 3's

You need to look the plant up online to determine its needs.
