I just bought a Freshwater Pipefish last night and when I woke up this morning he was stuck behind the heater (between the heater and the tank wall) and now he is still alive but hardly. It's almost like he is paralyzed... really weird! He's at the bottom of the tank, curled upside down, still moving his gills and fins but other then that not moving at all! I really don't know what to do for him, he has been like this for like the past 7 hours and I feel horrible and helpless. Does anyone have any advise at all?!!??! ASAP!!!

that sucks... pipefish and seahorses are really difficult to keep. mainly on the feeding front. they generally only take live foods, and also have no stomach, just a long intestine, so they dont get much nutrition from the food they eat. as a result they need to be fed 3-4 times per day. they will eat 100's of individual food items every day.

they also have small mouths so brine shrimp may be too big, newly hatched brine/daphnia will have to be fed. so you would need to breed your own. because of their tiny mouths, there are reports of pipefish and seahorses actually choaking on bubbles as they mistake them for food.

your 'freshwater' pipefish is also most likely a brackish fish. true FW pipes arent commonly available. but without a scientific name we cant be sure...

Does the place you got him from have a guarantee on their fish? I'd consider euthanization, and seeing if I could trade it in or something.

I'm really sorry to hear this. What a disappointment.
I think you're confused. Fish are generally guaranteed for pre-existing health conditions. If a fish is injured in your tank, it is most certainly not covered under a health guarantee.

To srockjunkey;
Maybe the pipefish was looking for something to attach to overnight. Pipefish require many sturdy "perches" to hold onto, and if they aren't given them, they will likely be injured while holding onto a filter intake or heater, like how you've described. They are extremely week swimmers.

HEY ALL U NEED DO IS OFF ALL UR FILTER/AIRPUMP HEATER AND USE A STICK TO PUSH THE PIPEFISH BACK TO ITS NORMAL STATE THIS WOULD HELP AS MY PIPEFISH WAS SWPET AWAY BY THE WATER AND I DID THIS IT CAME BCK TO LIVE AND NOW CAN SWIM
