Need help with fry's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I slip panty hose over the end of the syphon and rubber band it in place. I only do water changes and not gravel vacs for a Long Time.

i don't use my python for changing water in my fry tank. use a regular gravel vac into a bucket so i can check the water and make sure there is no fry in there. i am too worried about sucking the fry into the python and having them go dowm the drain. it is more work, but that is what i do. i guess you could combine musha's and mattyou's suggestions and put a nylon over a python.

That is crafty!!
Ive always done it very very very carefully.

Snails work well, a small pleco, a turkey baster, or a siphon with some kind of filter over it. I use all the above on my fry tank but the most effective is the python with a spongy thing over the end.

i never did anything different i left the parents in the tank did wc just like normal and left my filters running. everything is fine all are living together and getting big i did lose a few in the filters

I pull my fry and move them to a bare bottom tank with a sponge filter. If you don't feel like trying to catch all the fry the best thing to do is just let the parents raise them until they are big enough to net. If you were worried about the parents fighting you could always move the worse of the parent. If you're worried about the parents eating the fry, don't be. They'll have more.
