i was wondering if you have to put garavel on the bottom of a pond or if it needs anything at all, if i do do you know where i could get some rocks or gravel or sand, i ahve done my rescher but can't turn up anything and do you know any good wepsites for more info on ponds too:confused:

Home depot has some bags of stone at a reasonable price that work great as a pond substrait.

Do you really NEED one?..... Probubly not but even more so than aquariums...ponds by their very nature are ornimental and plain concrete or liner dosn't look very good at all...

:) ok thanks alot:)

Definately use gravel. It looks good and provides a bed for biological. Home stores have it but if you need a lot check garden centers and nursersies. I used 'bulk' gravel appox. 2 tons when I built mine. I had it delivered and placed it in the empty pond before I filled it w/ water. That way I could wash the gravel several times and pump out the dirty water before the final filling of the pond. Bags are a good choice if you have a small pond or one that is already filled because you can cut holes in the bags and wash it in the bag.

ok thanks guys
