I currently have 20 high with 2 shellies and they are behaving very strange. When I first got them they were a young pair sharing a shell together at the my lfs. They were fine for awhile but didn't show they were a pair they didn't share a shell or anything. They now one chases the other and doesn't let the one have it's own shell. The one that chases the other one buries the other shells so the other one can't have a shell. Idk what to do to make them pair up again and breed. The tankmates are 5 julies 2 albino eureka reds 2in and 2 dragon blood fry and 1-1.5. Help would be much appreicated! Pics soon!!!

First off they will be lucky to make it in the tank with the Peacocks as they will surely try to eat them when big enough. Way too many fish for such a small tank once grown..

My recommendation would be to lose all the other fish and keep the shellies in the 20gal and add about 4 shells per shell dweller.. The others will most def eat any fry that these two shellies produce..

The peacocks get chased around by the shellies no worries there and would getting rid of the other fish really help? I have 2 40 gals would they all be fine in a larger tank?

I would but I can't find them anymore at least the blues. I don't want to crossbreed.

you must not be looking very hard

even now that tank is too overstocked imo, no matter the filtration, also in my experience with shellies larger fish stress them out alot, and they dont like alot of current, gl
