Hi MFK,

Since today one of my Aequidens Pulcher is staying in a fixed position next to the heater stearing to the surface. He doesn't move and doesn' realy recognize whats happening around him. I'm not sure...but the last few days i had the feeling that she's loosing a little weight..
All other fish behave normal... so i don't think it's something about heat/temperature.

Does anyone have any idea what that might be?

How many Aequidens Pulcher do you have? Possibly being harrassed and is the lower in the rank. I suggest removing her/him to a separate aquarium and hopefully the health of the Acara improve.

Agree with Tom. Could be bullied. Separate for now and get it to eat. If no internal parasites then reintroduce once better.

Hi,
thanks for the quick response.
i have 2 pairs in a 100 gallon. I have never seen any real harrassing between them and never against the one in the pic..just one time a little bit between the two males.
At the moment it would be difficult to seperate her, because my other tank is used for hatching at the moment.

Oh okay keep your eye on her hope she gets better.

I have raised hundreds of the EBA.
I have noticed occasionally I see this same thing. One will break off from the others appear to just feel bad and not active.
Then it will loose interest in eating, I don’t know what causes this, I can only assume it’s an infection either bacterial or some other.
I don’t think in my case it’s parasites because I’m raising these fish in the same tank as they are spawned in and no new fish are ever introduced.
What works for me is to remove the fish to separate tank ( I see that you can’t) and treat with General cure.
It works, in about two days I see an improvement.
I would suggest a cheap ten gallon tank with simple sponge filter, for a hospital tank. Probably set one up for less then 30 or 40 dollars.

I have a sponge filter and a chea solution for a few days would be no problem.
what do you mean with General cure?

ok..seems like this isn't sold in germany....
i have something against bacterial inferction fromJBL...do you think this would work, too?
