Hi people
I used to have healthy discus fish (I have only discus fish in my aquarium) but not any more recently I start to notice a problem with their down crest & side fins even these needle fins in the bottom, it’s like that fins had been cut or trimmed ,their crest isn’t beautiful any more each day get worse I don’t know why although I have some of these fish more than 9 months & every thing was fine & I didn’t change my routine with them regarding the cleaning ,filtering & food. is this disease? should I be worried? is there cure? what should I do ?
Here some pictures for one of my fishes.
Your help highly appreciated.
Thanks

Looks like fin-rot, get some pimafix and melafix to try and stop it, and aid in re-growth.

Most of the time this is caused by a gram negative bacterial disease. A lot of the time you can stop it, or atleast slow it greatly by doing a few simple things. #1 is to increase your water changes. Do larger water changes and more frequently. Dont forget to clean your filter more often. Just make the tank "cleaner". #2 is to add salt into the tank. I would recommend using 5-6 tablespoons per 10 gallons. Dont use ordinary table salt. Either go to the LFS to get "aquarium" salt (which is very expensive for what it is), or better yet to go your local supermarket and pick up a box of either kosher or pickling salt. These usually are safe to use since they have no anti-caking agents in them....just plain salt. When you do a water change, add back the salt at a prorated amount to keep the salt levels the same. Within a few days you should see some results. If not, then we will need to step in and maybe try a broadspectrum antibiotic. We'll go that route if needed, but try the salt first. Keep us updated with pics.
