Is it going on a saltwater tank or freshwater? looks like this was used for a salt setup last. Not a deal breaker for fresh but you'll have some holes to fill or decisions to make on how you want to plumb it.

It's for freshwater. The guy who used before used it for freshwater also. But before that it was saltwater

I can't fit a filter sock housing onto my sump, so they are hung from a chain from the stand. I use a chain with an S hook to hold the filter sock in place. You could do that in the big open area, but I can't see how your baffles are set up. If it were me, I'd probably cut them all out and go with an open design to make more room.

Filter socks come in many sizes, width and length. Look on jehmco or macmasteri web sites.
If you're worried that the 2 PVC ends are too short, you can always add length with more PVC.
Also salt water or fresh, doesn't matter, a sump is just a place to put stuff either way, you can go from salt to fresh in a day as long as you rinse it out a little.

I was hoping that there was something that could fit on the pipes on the intakes so the filter socks could hang on. I know that it can be used for freshwater. .. I was just looking for tips how to fill it up optimal I was thinking just filter socks in the first big chamber. Then bio balls in the the next 2 small chambers and live the refuge champer free to use as a grow up tank or temp. Small tank for small fish. Any other suggestions ?

You can add extra PVC either inner or outer diameter part of the bulkhead protruding inside the tank. I slip an elbow over and use a zip tie to secure it on. It doesn't need to be glued, friction fit is usually enough. The filter bags (socks) can hang vertically or bend and lay horizontally.

or you can drill holes in the lip of the acrylic for zip ties and I'm sure you can get it to work with no extra parts. Nice mini btw lol

i would say do a fluidized media filter. you just need to find some sort of media in your area that will work. from what i have heard they work really well. anyone can correct me if i am wrong and no i have not ever done one, but they next time i upgrade i think i will try it out.
