i have 3 jungle vals in my all male tank. they just dont seem to be grown. 2 of the plants are floating bc they dont have roots to hold them in the sand and they seem to be growing more the new leafs. why do u think the floating ones are growin new leafs n the planted one isnt

I heard high ph required for Africans weren't plant friendly. No personal experience, just something I remember reading, and due to where u posted, I'm guessing you have some sort of African setup

peacocks? They are most likely eating the planted leaves and not the floating plants, or the lights are not powerful enough and since the floating ones are closer to the light they are getting the light needed where the planted plants are too low to get enough of the light.

my peacocks never bother the plants. the only light i have on the 55g tank is a 18" plant bulb. i have a 3' fixture but dont have it pluged up the bulbs are so old i dont think they will help any

I have jungle val growing in a couple of my high-light planted tanks. It doesn't do particularly well in lower-light or in super tall tanks, but any light is better than none.

You can also try putting it in a clay pot with gravel to give the roots something to hold onto. I did this in my 125 SA eartheater tank and it worked pretty well.
