Just got my first bad ass catfish.

I introduced the 10 inch cat into my 500 gal tank yesterday and he is just staying under some driftwood not moving and didn't even try to eat the feeders.

Is this normal for a red tail and how long will he act this way???

Thanks

This is perfectly normal . It may do that for a week or up to 4 dont worry just try to offer some food to it every 2 days till it is comfortible with it's new surroundings Then you will unleash the beast .Try to get it on frozen food or pelleted food as soon as possible it will save you tons of $ in the long run .I feed my cats raw white shrimp ( frozen at any grocery store , silver sides ,earth worms, ect...

Make sure you post some pics also .Close ups of him and a full tank shot .

I really suck at pics but here they are anyways.

The tank is a 500 gal acrylic beast. I have been working on this project for about 10 months. We had to crane it into the house and build a custom wall so you can see thru the office to the livingroom.

Also built a monster wall under it for support and plumbed the filter system in the basement.

I basically built 2 big wet dry filters run by pond pumps.

I am currently looking for some awsome tank busters!

Thank for your help

congrats on the new fish...seems like normal behavior to me.

ps: badass tank.

yup. I second that. nice, NICE tank! must be gorgeous with lunar lights on @ night.
Dont worry about the fish not eating yet, I'm sure its jus transplant shock, IE moving from a LFS or any tank to your tank. It will eat soon! only reason it wouldnt eat is if it has a parasite/disease.
If I were you I'd get a good size fancy pleco to compliment your beautiful show tank.

Nice tank ! looks great I agree about the frontosa.

congrat on new pick up..that's normal since they are nocturnal predator ..mine are hiding under the pump even they are not fit, that kinda funny..teach him/her eat sinkin pellet, shrimp, frozen etc..that gonna save you $$$..
