Have a 75g tank.wondering how many fish are compatible with Oscar. An how do i know to keep from overstocking...

Oscars are such messy fish that you wouldn't want to really add much of anything at all in a 75. You could do a small growing pleco or catfish, but it would be wise to not add more than that.

Most people will say 1 Oscar for a 75 gallon and nothing else. Personally 1 fish to a tank looks boring no matter what, but that's me. A Firemouth or a severum at the same time you got the Oscar would go great with one. They could fight, but almost any cichlid could end up fighting. But that's it, the Oscar and another smaller cichlid.

im no expert but with proper filtration could u keep a green terror and a oscar and maybe like 1 or 2 sa/ca cichlids in a 75... does anyone have that website that could help him out?

So If i wanted todo more fish how big of a tank would i need with oscar.

I would look into a 125, I have one. I love it, it's not crazy big like some people have but big enough for some "big" fish. The main difference is it's 6 feet long instead of 4 feet. Would fit along a nice bare wall, a piece of furniture really.

How long have you had the 75 for? I would just skip on the Oscar if you wanted more fish to a tank. Obviously buying a new tank is great but if you just want more fish the 75 is good for alot of fish.

To begin with maybe, but in reality that Oscar in a few years time will be 14-16 inches topping out. Believe me, it's small now but it'll grow quick and the tank will look small with even one Oscar for a 75.

well i had the 75g for a month.I wanna upgrade later just kinda wanting to know if i could put wat kinda cichlids with oscar once i get my bigger tank.

I agree that this could work....

That is too many fish to have with an O in a 75. Anyone who has experienced the bio load of a full grown Oscar would agree.

Green Terror's, Severums, Jack Dempseys, Firemouths, just to name a few. These would all work with a bigger tank. Not all of them in one tank, but you get what I mean. They'll fight at times, but that's what cichlids do.
