So I inherited this 300 gallons fish tank. It came with a wet/dry sump and has one corner overflow. The corner overflow has 2 drilled holes (1 3/4") and has all the plumbing (flexible hoses, 2 return RIO 2100 pumps with return hoses). The only things missing were the bulkheads and the overflow standpipes. I figured the bulkheads sizes would be 1", but I am unsure how the overflow standpipes should be setup. The wet/dry filter also has two intake chambers where the dripping occur and media is stored.

I need some advices on how to set up the overflow standpipe(s). Do I need two standpipes since there are two intake chambers in the wet/dry filter? What should be the size of the PVC standpipes? What kind of overflow setup should I go with (Durso, etc)?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A hole that is 1 3/4 is usually considered the size for a bulkhead of 1" piping.
There is a bulkhead sizing chart at Jehmco.com.

Two pipe holes in an overflow chamber is usually so one pipe can be open fully while the other throttled back with a valve, and is redundant which prevent the toilet like gurgle noise
below a couple explanations

Two drains usually means its set up for a herbie type setup. Though you could just as easily have a dual durso setup. Whatever strikes your fancy really.

Is there room for a third hole if you wanted one? Tank acrylic or glass?
