I have a pangasius catfish or an iridescent shark in my 110 gallon fresh water aquarium and he doesnt really do much. I read that they should be constantly on the move but mine seems to just chill out on the bottom of the tank. He doesnt have a problem getting spooked when i turn the lights on but he seems to be moving around only when i turn the light on and he then goes to the bottom and stays there. He has been in the tank for about 2 months and is about 5 or 6 inches. I am also yet to see him eat he seems to just somehow survive by not spending any energy all day.

The Ph in the water in 7.0 and the Nitrates and Amonnia are under control. Does anyone know if something is wrong with him or if this is natural behavior?

Thank You

Seems odd. Is anything near the tank possible scaring him? Also, what temperature is he at? Cooler temps can lead to sluggish behavior.

And WELCOME!!!! :)

Good thought. Maybe toss a giant danio in there for him to chase down.

hi jjboy, i have 3 pangasius about the same size, they display 'common' pangasius behaviour, swimming from side to side together, been very skittish when the lights are turned on, i rarely see them eating unless the food is dropped right in front of them however they feed more freely when the lights are turned off!

from what iv learned is that when they are juveniles they are a schooling species and generally swim together in the home aquaria, however as they get older they become more independent, i do stand to be corrected, just my few cents worth:grinyes:

maybe you should consider adding another one or two pangasius, im sure you see some behaviour difference
