I could of sworn somebody posted a paper on here about this.
The paper must address speciation somehow.

The graph that most papers will include is time vs. morphology, with the plotted line(s) showing either anagenesis or stasis and punctuated equilibrium.
Anne's in the sticky is time vs. geography, which is different.
Anybody run across anything on this before?
It would be cool to show the class a paper on a species that they have never heard about.
This is for invertebrate paleontology class, but can be any species just need to include speciation with a graph.

Do your own homework!!!
lol thank you.
I am just looking to have fun with it, I can easily find a paper on something I am uninterested in. THere was one on Polypterus posted by either Hao or Kingel a while back. I just can't find it.
If they don't reply I will go with lake sturgeon which I have found info on other than species by location.

shoot me an email (E_americanus@hotmail.com) and i can send you the most recent paper on the latest polypterus phylogeny. they tracked speciation with time estimates, and primarily used the CO1 mitochondrial gene (i believe). anyway, that is the most comprehensive phylogeny of polypterus to date. i think i posted a link or abstract to the paper a year or so ago here--

hehehehe :D

Presented today, class loved the powerpoint! I used all pictures from my personal collection. Thanks again Solomon! My professor had heard of polypterides, but he though the body elongation in teugulsi was a really neat example to use. I compaired it to polli and the others, but change in teugulsi was the basis of the presentation. It turned out pretty well.
