Greetings,

I believe this is my first time posting in this section so do bear with me. I'm looking for suitable plants as a means of additional filtration. It would be placed in the sump. The depth of the sump compartment is 6.5" and the lighting would be a 8W Cool Daylight [just an ordinary light from hardware store]

1. The plants must be great at nitrate absorbing
2. Able to flourish under the lighting
3. Commonly found
4. Don't need a substrate (can be potted or free hanging)
5. Floating plants prefered.

Can any of you suggust plants which fits most of the criteria?

pothos seems to be used a lot... easy to grow, takes no maintenance, and can be found at your local lowes

pothos work great, just the roots need to be in the water, also you could you some variate of duckweed, try to get the giant kind as the smaller versions can be a pain. Hornwort could be another possiblity, It has a higher light requirement but I have had luck with it in low light settings

Thanks definitely leaning towards pothos and duckweed. Could moss balls work too?

I forgot about moss balls, those would probably work just as well, although I have never personally owned them.
