I have two pregnant peacocks in my 46 breeder tank and need some advice on what to do. One has had them in here mouth for 3 weeks and the other has about 1 week. The ones mouth is really really big and i need to know what to do. How to take care of them? where to put them? what to feed them?

Thank you

You could catch the female and put her into another tank to spit the fry. Then she should be moved to another tank (not main tank) to eat and regain health. Then she could be put back into the main tank after about a week. The one holding for 3 weeks should spit them soon. Good luck.

This is what i do... then feed frozen baby brine shrimp with an eye dropper to wee ones and when they are a little bigger introduce flakes crumbled up very tiny.. good luck and congradulations..make sure you keep quality water..

umm. are these pure peacocks? or mixed females of other types... sure males and the right females mated?

I watched both of them do it, as well as have pics, so i at least know the right ones mated.

I have a 46 and 55 gallon setup up. They both mated in the 55 and i moved them both to the 46 when i saw them do it.

okay, just checking, not seen you before on here so had to check... I would pull the female with three weeks and put into another tank get her to spit then out in another tank to feed. When other female is ready repeat. Get some of the fry grass if you are going to mix fry, but then you will not know what females go with whom...

I really don't know where to put the fry. Should i buy one of those green breeder nets that hang on the side of the tank?

The only thing that is in the tank is the two females and a 12 inch pleco. Her mouth is getting so BIG now so i figure they are ready to come out.

get a 30 or 30 gal tank..use the water from the first tank and then add some.. get the tank cycling and the new filter etc too.. then put female in until she spits the babies and then put her back {with out the male}if possible to give her a rest and fatten her up.. then do the same with the second female who is holding.. you cannot have a 12 inch pleco in with babies.. you can have all the babies together if they are born with in a week or so of each other with out a problem.. anymore then that and theres a chance the older fry will eat the younger fry.. good luck since you have the two females holding in their own set up you can also take the chance that the females will not eat the babies and see how they do..some moms can thrive being with their fry..just feed the mom good with out polluting the water..with two females it is a little tricky since it will all depend on when the other one spits..but you do have time right now to make hiding places and lots of plants etc..even if its plastic plants anything that would make it difficult for the female fish to get to the fry.. caves, rocks and plants a must ...
