Ever since i've moved (2 Months ago) I've been fighting low ph (6.0 or lower) I've tried crushed coral in my FX5's and 5 big chunks of coral in my wet/dry and still can't get ph over 6.0.. :irked: I tried mixing baking soda and water and that was only a temporary bandaid for my problem being my ph #'s are like a roller coaster when using this.. Someone please give me more ideas...

Not sure if everyone will want to know but it's a 300 gal (8x30x2) running 2 FX5's, and a 20gal wet dry.. Both FX5's are filled with 2 trays of bio max and 1 tray of crushed coral.. the wet/dry is filled with bio balls and 5 big chunks of coral.. Also not sure if it makes any differance but it's a bare bottom tank, no sand or gravel.. Checked my perams and Ph below 6.0, ammonia 0, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0.. This tank is "not" heavily stocked, has 5 rays and 4 sevs..

yeah, try and get a kh/gh reading.

I've never tested for that since i moved, i'll have to check that one.. I always use Tap and dose with Prime..
I have to add my air disc back to the tank, i didn't put it back in since i moved and re-set up the tank.

Yea, I'd think it's coming out of the tap low. As long as it's not really low you might be OK, but if it's <5.0 out of the tap stabilizing it will be tough, especially since any buffering you do will be offset every time you do a w/c.

Texas holey rock raises my pH, you could try some of that too, but I think the coral you already have going would do a better job.

I checked my Ph out of the tap last night and it's low too, around 5.0 to 6.0.. Can't tell for sure being my tester only goes down to 6.0 but it's more yellow than my tester goes down to..:(
So anyone have any idea's how to boost the ph up ??

Is limestone any better than all the coral i already have in my filters and wet/dry ?? What kind of limestone should i get ??

Any more idea's ???
