Need help with recently purchased African Cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am always interested in other cichlids. It how I learned most of my fish tank experience.
Exactly! That's how I have learned everything I know about keeping fish. Either I read, youtube, or simply come here and ask questions. But during my water cycle battle I was doing the water changes as I said. And then I thought about it and realized why not take water from a already established tank? So this is what I did. I was doing 20% water changes daily on my tank and then twice a week I would do one water change of about 30% and I would fill it back up with water from the already cycled tank. This actually worked extremely well for me. Not too sure if it was a good thing to do or not. But, within a week the Ammonia, Nitrite, and surprisingly the nitrate levels all dropped. 0,0,10 :) All the fish are doing well together and I couldn't be more happy! I can post another video or send you some photos if you like markstrimaran markstrimaran

It works to take media from an established tank. There should be no bacteria in the water column, so "established water" should not work. Glad everything is going well though.

Yeah very true. Sorry I forgot to mention I also took some substrate from the established tank. So that have been it.
