I have 4 senegals, 1 endlicheri, 1 chinese softshell turtle and one tiger shovelnose catfish ( newly added )

I cleaned the whole tank and added them in like normal except this time i added the shovelnose. After a day, i looked in the tank and i saw one of my senegals with a bloody back. I thought it might just be the catfish and it will stop heal. the next day, i came back from school and found that that exact senegal was now bloody on its fins and had nipped fins and tail and was on the laying on its side and breathing hardly. I suspected the catfish at first but now i cant anymore since its dead. I know the turtle is notorious for being aggresive but they have been together for about 6 months !

the tank is only a 30 gallon growout coz im only getting a much larger tank after my major examination in just another 3 months.

The catfish is now dead, ripped in halves and its flesh, eaten. It is really a disgusting sight. Don't flame me please, i DO have a plan for them.

you can't really see it but the senegal is a little bloody.. what should i do ?!?

You are cramping them in a 30g prison with a turtle. What do you expect?
Sell them to a LFS or someone who can actually take care of them and get the larger tank first!

wow, nice piece of advice.
the tank is in planning mode.
its gonna be custom made and a 6 ft one ( since catfish is dead )
it WILL come. just not now, as it is my dad has a lot of other projects for the year and is only free at the end of the year like i am.
i can't believe u would rather "lecture" me about tank sizes when a life of a fish is on the line.
im not ignorant.
i understand how u guys feel about me having a small tank but i DO have a plan and am still planning.
i just dont see how MFK has every helped me in ANY situation except for giving lectures about small tanks.
no need to answer any questions anymore.
my sen would have been dead by the time anyone will ever give me the answer needed.
i'm sure im gonna be flamed.
but i dont care what any of you will have to tell me anymore.

sorry to tell you but it was bad planning on your part. the answer you need is to get fish that can live in a 30 g together. research it.

I'm not going to flame or lecture you, but I will tell you one thing that could save lives in the future: Even if you get a larger tank, it would be a very good idea to get rid of that softshell turtle. I can almost guarantee that it was your turtle that harmed/killed your fish, and it will do it again, no matter how long they've been together.

Nobody here is lecturing you just because they feel like it, they want the best for your fish and they want to help you learn. It really isn't a good idea to keep all those fish in a small tank, even if it's only for a short period of time, but it's your decision.

As for what to do when a fish is hurt, the best thing to do is add some kind of medication that is made for treating the specific injury, as well as doing frequent water changes to ensure good water quality. You may also want to raise the temperature and even add a low amount of aquarium salt.

Spiritofthesoul was giving you the right answer in a different manner. For your pesky response, let me rephrase it so you can understand it better. Get a tank upgrade immediately. Since I generally pop out from the reptile section of the website, first, get rid of the chinese softshell somewhere and DO NOT RELEASE IT INTO MALAYSIAN RIVERS. In any case, Chinese softshells or for that matter, any other turtles are generally meant to be kept alone and kept in very large tanks.

sorry to say but you are kinda ignorant. jamming 4 bichirs, a shovel nose PLUS an aggresive soft shell turtle in a puny 30 gallon tank is pretty cruel. the main food for turtles are fish so the turtle can easily catch ur bichir and catfish (in this case) in this tank with barely any swimming space. Immediaty sell that turtle. turtles and bichirs in a small tank don't mix. i have a 30 gallon tank with two 4 inch bichirs and they are still fighting. i'm going to get a 75 gallon tank next weeks. sorry for ur loss. hope it's lession learned. I've made some retarded mistakes too.

WOOOW some people are being selffish and nonlistening! we're giving you the advice and you bum out on us!!!

Let me start of by saying whatever I say, I put the well-being of the fish in mind.
If you can't house a fish properly now, don't keep it. That is the general idea.

There is still a good 5 months before the end of the year arrive and I doubt your bichirs will be able to survive through the onslaught.
And like some members state, chinese softshell isn't the friendliest turtle to keep with fishes.
I'm no expert but I know what happens to fishes when you cramp them with a turtle.
With a larger tank, it could work. But good luck to your fishes trying to hide in a 30g tank when your turtle gets aggressive.

If your turtle can do such damage to your tiger shovelnose catfish, expect it to do alot worst with bichirs.
Best thing now is find someone with the ability to house those fishes or the turtle and you can trust.
After you get the larger tank, only then get them back.

I won't bother lecturing you, after all it is your fish, not mine. My advice, feel free to take it or throw it.
If you are really don't want to sell away your fishes, put a divider to seperate the turtle.
But with a 30g, I don't find it feasible since you will make the space in a small tank even smaller.

Either the bichirs go, or the turtle go.
