Need help with setup

Hi, I'm a newbie to bichirs, and I havent got the bichir yet, its going to be a buettikoferi (5-6 inches), just need some help with the setup.

I have a 55 gallon planted tank, and I just wanted to know if my substrate will be okay.

the 1st layer consists aquasoil for my plants and then a layer of "black sand" that I got from the LFS.

Here are pics.

Can someone tell me if that "black sand" is indeed the correct sand? I really don't mind removing it and replacing it with proper black sand if its wrong but I'd have to look for it first. Tank is waiting to cycle.

looks good even though the finer the sand the better. Black quartz sand it the best.

Today I went out and got a finer cut of black sand from the lfs. Its reallyyyyy fine. I think this is the one. and Ive change it to this one too.
