Hi,
So i added a new Spotted silver dollar about a week ago. I had it in QT for a week and it was eating well and showed no signs of disease. After a week a put it into my 300 gallon. It has been in my 300 for 7-8 days.
A couple days ago i noticed my clown knife was acting funny and not eating normal. A couple of my clown loaches have not been eating at all the last couple days. Today I did a good status check on the fish. The new silver dollar has a cut/lesion on its lip and has a patchy white look on its sides. One of my existing silver dollars has the same patchy look on its sides. My Clownknife has a cut/bump/lesion on its lip. A couple of my loaches are breathing really heavy and laying on the bottom. One loach has a cloudy eye thats looks swollen or popped out. see pictures...20160202_141026.jpg 20160202_141039.jpg 20160202_141131.jpg

I will try to get better pictures but its hard to get it to show up on the fish. I treated the tank with a half dose of paragurad. My 1st thought was velvet but I dont know if its something else.
My water p's: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20-30, Temp 79, PH 8.1
I do weekly water changes.
Any ideas what this is and what should i do?
My plan right know is to treat with paraguard daily and do 10-20% WC everyday before I re-dose
Should I add salt and how much should i add?
thanks what else do you guys/women need to help out?

If you are planning on using paragard I wouldn't mix anything else with it. Paragard wouldn't be my first choice, do you have a hospital tank?

To follow up. I read that triple-sulfa helps buffer the paraguard with sensitive fish.
So to sum up ive added a full dose of Triple-Sulfa and have added a half dose of paraguard.
I have a question with the salt, is it safe to use with these 2 meds? Also I have added salt to the tank whenever i add new fish in the past. Is there a way to test the salt content in such a small percentage. Ive read on hear that my salt content should be between .1%-.3% is that what i should target?

Hi Aquanero,
I just read your reply after i posed my last message about adding the triple-sulfa
Yes i have a 20 gallon QT tank. I tired to catch the sick silver dollars with no luck and quit to not add to much extra stress! :) Is it important info to get the sick ones out even with the added stress? Getting 3-4" fish out of a 300 is hell:)
So dont add any salt?
Is there something else I should be using? I had paraguard and tripe sulfa in my med cabinet and not knowing exactly what im dealing with, i figured since they both treat a broad rang of things it would be a good start....

I moved one of my loaches to QT. Looks like he has popeye but not for sure? Here are pictures.
Im not sure what the treatment is for popeye. I read that the triple sulfa and paraguard combo can work and thats all i had so i treated the QT tank with that. This is crazy with so many fish showing so many different symptoms. Any suggestions??? Please!
