Hello everybody hope everyones well chilling in quarantine with their monsters!! haha
i was having seconds thoughts on my stocking ideas and decided i wanted to do something diffrent to the standard ray, arowana,Peacock bass, datnoid Exc monster tank.I wanted to do a sought of amazon biotope but with a fly river turtle.I also love rays so was wondering if it would work with like small neon tetras and black neon tetras or something similar that the rays would occasionally munch on but not to much.If the rays were a bit larger and i added hides for the small fish would this work??
This is my current stocking ideas
1x 18 inch fly river turtle(everything revolves around this so it starts nipping i remove that fish not the turtle)
2x leopoldi rays(when they outgrow the tank 8ft long x 2ft tall x 3ft wide i will replace with marble motoros)
10x geophagus surinamensis
50x neon tetras
50x balck neon tetras
the tank will be 79F and ph 7.2-7.5

You may have to take out the rays because fly rivers are supposedly nippy and you dont wanna risk the turtle dying because it got stung by a stingray

yea i know what im gonna do is let the fly river like chill without them in the tank and see how nippy it is if it is nippy i wont add rays if she isnt i will add a divider and see how they react to won and other i will leave it their and observe them then if their is no aggression i will let them be together.
I thought about the idea of the turtle being stung. The turtle is 18 inches im unsure how big i should get the rays bigger(so if she nips them it wont kill them and i can remove them) or get them smaller and so if they sting her she will hopefully be less affected

You don't need to bump a thread that isn't even 24 hours old. Any small fish in that tank will end up being eaten, isn't worth wasting 100-200 pounds on small tetras with a limited life expectancy in a tank of predators. What are the exact dimensions of the tank, filtration details and most importantly do you have the tank yet?

it is an 8x3x2 and i dont have it yet tbh i reckon your right about the tetras thank you!! New to mfk(kinda) so about the bumping lol

What filtration will you be using? When do you plan on getting the tank?

the tank will be on an 6x2x2 sump with a wet dry filter with crushed coral in the center to raise ph for frt(fly river turtle) i have just ordered the tank and will arrive in 8-10 weeks
