ok i have 4 peacock bass and i want to buy a catfish i was looking for a tiger shovelnose catfish. do you think it will get long with them.. the peacocks are about 3 inch and the catfish is about 3 to 4 inch..

Not sure about shovelnose cats but I think you should get one thats smaller than your pbass. But pleae don't listen to me. Dont want your cat ending up being dinner for your pbass if I'm wrong.

I'm not positive, but believe the growth rate of the catfish might be faster then that of your peacock bass.

Could be risky business =O

the shovelnose will outgrow the pbass extremely faster. I did the same thing, it grew to 1' while my pinima only grew from 4-6", guess what, the shovelnose had himself a $40 dinner on me.

from what i know and have heard of shovelnose's is that their growth rate can be much more rapid than the P.Bass and are known to eat anything they think they can fit into their mouth.

if it outgrows your bass than you may be looking at a snack that cost you a lot of time and money

Here are two examples:

as you can see from the first one, it may kill both

I had the same thing happen to me cat had himself a $40 dinner on me... needless to say hed did not last much longer in the tank

My TSN grew from 3-4in to 13in in about a year. I have seen him eat a 3in feeder before. That is the biggest feeder I've put in there so I'm not sure if he could eat anything larger than that but it's a distinct possibility so beware. I think it would work, but only temporarly.

The first video has a gulper catfish which can eat things twice their size so I would disreguard that video. But I bet this could work if both are kept fed, I bet that's what happened in that second video, or not enough space

Yeah i realize that the first was a gulper, but as seen in the second they may attept to eat them even though they may not seem to fit into its mouth.

they may harm the other fish if they are smaller than that bass in the vid
