I have my 180gal setup in a second floor apartment filled only half way because im afraid of it falling through the floor. I just did a 50% water change but my syphon wont suck any water out the tank unless i leave the faucet running. Im afraid ot the land lord complaining about a huge water bill is there a way for me to use the syphon without leaving the water running. Thanks for any infos.

hey cant help you on the siphon but pick one up at your lfs they have decent ones for like 10 bucks but your gonna need a 5 gallon bucket. . . i live in an apartment as well and im allowed to have up to a 200 gallon tank but its a newer apartment. . . i would check because theres no use in having a 180 setup if your only gonna fill it with 90 gallons

Another option is siphoning down to 20 lite bucket with at the bottom a power-head or pond pomp sending water up another siphon hose to the sink.

Or using a media-free canister filter as a pump & stop it as soon as the water gets so low it starts to draw air into the filter.

Great ideal. I think im going to try connecting my power head to the syphon. Ill let every one know if it works. Thanks

Or fill your tank up!!!!!!!!!!

syphons only work well when the "out" end is lower than the "in" end.. when they are level or near level they dont do much.. try going to the toilet or the tub insted of the sink... or if that still does not work you can use a pump...
