I am looking into buying some cherry shrimp for fun and breeding those to use as feeders maybe later on. I want to raise Java moss and Cherry shrimp in a 180 gallon tank (Yes I know this is huge but it is the only tank I have right now.) My only worry is I have 2 very LARGE plecos. One is 10 inches the other 15 inches. And I need to know if they will harm the Java moss or the cherry shrimp. I don't want them to like suck them up and kill them. So should I use a divider or will they all be safe?
I choose these because I am new to breeding and I don't want to do anything terribly expensive. I also heard that there is money in breeding plants and there is alot of people selling java moss on ebay and aquabid so I want to get java moss and get some shrimp for fun because I like them.
Does anyone know how fast Cherries will breed? I would like to get a large population and then divide my tank to breed an assortment of nice to look at fish. Possibly non-aggressive to semi aggressive. After I get a large colony of shrimp I thought maybe those could be used as feeders instead of buying freze dried shrimp but I am new to all this so feedback would be MUCH APPRECIATED!
Also can anyone suggest a nice setup for a tank as far as fish go? I am not really into guppies but I want something that will look much like a salt water tank. I love bright colors and fancy fish much like young oscars showing strong colors but most I have seen grow big and get very dull coloring and they are kinda an agressive fish.
Thanks!
