ok so i want to setup a 10 gallon fowlr setup, and i need to know what i need. also i want to stock it with 2-3 cleaner shrimp and 2 false pecular clownfish, is that to much? please help
I think thats a bit heavy of a stocking list. Plus you get bored with only two types of organisms in your tank. You can find a whole bunch of small fish that are as entertaining as a percula but stay smaller and produce less waste.
I would only say one percula and one or two cleaners depends on if you want something else. Really only one cleaner. My 10 gallon used to be stocked with 1 percula, 1 yellow tailed blue damsel fish 1 cleaner, bunch o corals, 2 pyramid snails, and 5 hermits. That was a pretty heavy stocking too. Percs although comparatively small grow too big to keep two in a 10 gallon.
I personally don't care too much about the clowns anymore. I love all the other fish that are often not as common to keep as a display fish.
a lot of patience and very very small/few fish. Pay attention to filtration and skimmer usage. They will need to be there. water changes will need to be done often. RO DI water should be used to avoid large levels of nitrate.
really, a HOB filter would work, your only going to use mechanical media in it anyways. Alot of people will crush up LR and add it to the filter, but that your option. Nano skimmers would be fine but change the cup every day to prevent spilling back into the tank. Cheap skimmers are not realy built with much care.
LR and LS should be added because the tank is so small, dont get dead rock and sand, the tank will be too unstable for too long. wait about a month before adding fish and post the every 3 day test results while tank is cycling. We will let your know how its doing and also about when you can expect to add any live stock.
ok so new update on the tank, its not going to be a 10 gallon i got a 29 gallon and 150 gallon skimmer for really cheap. oceanic tank, and oceanic turbo venturi skimmer, now what would be better, 1 ac 50, or 2 ac 30/20 filters?
