I just a new buttikoferri and he has awesome coloration.... Any ways, I got him for 6.00 :), but when I got him he looked about 3", I get him home, and put him in a container in my 135 gallon tank, but hes around 2". The fish range from 3"-7" and they are all mainly great fish with exception of my jack, (hes killed 1 tiger shovel nose 5", and a Asian red tail 4"). I was just wandering if he would last, I have an Oscar and those two would be my main concerns knowing the size of the Oscars mouth. What do you guys think I should do, I've had him in a 10 gallon for 2 days because I'm afraid the would be lunch. :nilly::(

BTW: The biggest fish is a black belt.
 
i don't' think it will be a good idea if you put the t. butti in the 135 with the others even if you have plenty of hiding spaces or not. it will either be lunch or killed. grow it out more...they grow fast and then put him in with the big guys
 
Even if you grow him out it might not work out butti's are real nasty and dont really back down.I've tried 3 times in the past and ends the same way a solo fish in a seperate tank.
 
I'd wait till it hits 3-3.5"
 
mine is currently 10 inches and is pretty calm. there are some guys on here that have some monsters like 17 inches. i remember a post with a butti and dovi and the butti looked like it could fit the doviis head in its mouth. i think there is a considerable size diff between male and female and i believe i have a female that may only grow another ince or two. ill look for the thread.
