have two red tail cichlids and i would like to know more about them so any info will help. i think that they might be a male and a female?

I dont know about the sex of the fish, but the one definately has a deformity of the spine. Was it always like that or did it develope over time?
HOLY SHIBBY! WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR PIKE!!! :O!! Man...that poor thing! Wow...never seen that before! Hard to tell, but at the moment looks like you have two males...if one of them starts to get white in the dorsal and a reddish belly...its most likely a female. 
that deformed one looks crazy (as in horrible). never kept them yet. they look alike to me. if not fighting they either a pr or friends.
i got these cichlids from a friend of mine about 3 weeks ago. he told me that the one with the spine curve has been like that since he got it from the store. before they came to me and now they are in a 55 by themselves and dont fight with each other. im hoping that one is a female and one male but we will see.
Aye....give them about 1 to 2" more inches.....should be able to tell. They are nice.....

....deformed or not! Congrats!! Might wanna bump them up into a bigger tank asap though...i have been looking on the internet to find the scientific name for them and i think that i might have it. i found that Crenicichla lugubris on google looks real close to what i have.
Look like Cr. venezuela, what is their current size? Too bad about the deformity - it's a "broke-back" pike..... would say female due to pinkish belly in your pic. Other is male so you have a pair, healthy lookin fish - enjoy!
they are both about 7-8 inches. the only things that they have eaten are the hikari food sticks and the hikari krill. would it be a good idea to add more to their diet? i have tried to feed them the hikari tubifex worms and they didnt eat it. if anyone has any ideas let me know. thanks
