Ok..i have 2 ploys in my tank...ornate and a endli...both are 5.5-6 inches and there in 30 bowfront tank..i need to know how long they can stay in there for...my 55 gallon in still cycling and wont be done in a month...how long before their growt get stunted or can they even get stunted growth. how long can they be in there?

8 inch plus must be a bigger tank
or they might get cabin fever
i suggest getting more.
endlis are big
ornates are big
meaning they have big attitudes.
maybe add some senegalus or delhezis or palmas in there.
this way there are many distractions for them so they dont pick on each other
as for stunting growth

in my country, itsa lucky dip some are stunted from the lfs cos they stay in small tanks too long and fed little.
theyare big fish so not that many people buy them.
so hope this is not the case with you.

but the 4th is very small, doesnt seem to wanna grow but has a big appetite.

Why is it taking so long to cycle the 55g when you've already got a 30g up and running?
With the fish you have the 55g seems like a waste of time, they won't be in there that long before needing something bigger. I'm won't go as far as to say they'll be stunted, but they certainly will grow faster in a bigger tank.
ps. I hope the 55g doesn't have gravel substrate like in your avatar...

What kind of filtration do you have on the 30g? I would have just put 95% of the water from the 30g plus the filter on the 55g (along with the new filter for the 55g) and bypassed the whole cycling thing. Then in around a months time when the new filter for the 55g has established you can remove the 30g filter.
its a penguin bio-wheel 150 and on the 55 gallon is a skilter 450 but im going to get a eheim 2215 canister filter in about 3 weeks...also if i put like 25 gallons of water from the 30 gallon in the 55 galloon and then 30 gallon of clean water will it be okay for me to put my fish in at that moment
If you also run the filter from the 30g on the 55g for about a month while the 55g filter establishes it should be fine. Bichirs are tough anyway, what else is in there?
