Nu-Clear Canister Filter..... Took it apart for cleaning for the first time, can not get it back together with out leaking, tried cleaning evrything still leaked when turning the pump on. Anyone with experience with these filters please help!

You saved the reciept, right? If it is a problem so soon, picture it a year from now.

I'm having the same problem with my fluval 404. You might need to ut some weight on the top when latching the lid I used my knee.

I do not think its the filter I think i must be doing some thing wrong

I will give it a shot do u use any thing on the o ring
I've read that people have used vasoline and it stopped the leak. I went and got some today I'm going to give that a try.

I have a bunch of these and I have the same problem sometimes. Make sure the O ring is in the groove. When you put the lid on kind of spin it back and fourth while your pushing down and this motion will seat the O ring in the groove of the lid. Then put the metal collar on. Once you got the metal collar threaded with the nut and that black plastic thing that goes around the nut tighten that mother down hard. I usually take off the black thing and put a wrench on it and really get on it. I use a 1/2" deep well socket with a 3/8th drive but any adjustable wrench will work. I have never broken a filter doing this. Also while I'm tightening I tap on the side of the metal ring lightly all the way around. Use a wrench for the tapping, or a small hammer or something metal, it needs to be a sharp tap but not hard (difficult to explain) This tapping will snug the metal ring onto the plastic canister and top cover. The newer canisters seem to leak at first then with time everything settles in.

You have a top notch canister filter! For the price it's the best on the market IMO

Good luck
