I'm sorry to freak out. I'm in northern VA and its a thunderstorm outside. The power is going out in short bursts I have a lot of aquariums. Its 12 at night and I don't know what to do to keep my fish going if the power goes out permanently. I know I need to :chillpill: any opinions would help

Depends on what you have for stocking levels or if you have Live plants. Fish can do without all of the power filters and canisters for a good amount of time. If you moce the water manually every hour or two that will help in the air water exchange until you can get some battery operated air pumps or generator depending on your situation.

All in all you should have patience and you will be OK

If power goes down for a long time be careful with canister filters as the bacteria can die off and when you restart them could have an ammonia spike. ( Use some amquel)

Take Care

generator i would be worried about the temp

How long can fish keeping going if I manually aerate. RBP/Gar/Eel/saltwater reef system

If I put warm water into bags and float them do you think it will maintain temp?

Gar is no problem at all as they can breathe air in low oxygen environments (Supplemental). Eel No problem either, RBP will be OK 12-24 hours (USe a large cup to pour the water into the tank). The reef system will be the trickiest as you really need the lighting in the long term.

Our captive creatures can be pretty tolerant if maintained in great shape prior to an event. Either way you can sleep and check on them in the morning when you wake up. I am sure everything will be OK.

What is your room temperature. I would not worry unless it is below 70 degrees. If power does go down and temps drop, just bring the water temp back up slowly over time so you do not shock the critters.

Think about this, Fish spend 2-3 days in a plastic bag with 2-3 inches of water and a blast of oxygen in a closed black box sometimes traveling several countries.
