Hi All,

I'm not really a fish fanatic, although I love all creatures whether they walk or swim. We were walking on the beach the other day and I found a very unusual dead fish (at least to me). It looks like a puffer fish (puffed up) with very sharp spikes. Maybe a Porcupine fish??? Anyhow, I brought it home to take some pictures of it and was wondering if there was any way I could preserve this fish without a great expense. It would make a great addition to my garden outside if I could prevent the fish from rotting. I did some research and all posts led back to your site. From the looks of it, your site contains a great deal of information for someone like me.

Thanks.

You can preserve a fish in liquid in a glass jar. Here is a thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?70926-Preserving-fish

It is difficult to preserve a fish otherwise. You can put the fish in a cardboard box lined with a plastic bag and add lots of salt. In a few months the salt will absorb all the liquid and preserve the meat. You then put it in the sun to dry. The only problem is the fish will shrink and lose most of its color.
