I will be building an L shaped aquarium using the two panels from a 55 gallon tank I already have as the from facing windows. I believe it's either 3/8 or 1/4 thickness. Is this thick enough? Because in theory the height is what maters for the thickness right? Just wondering if this is a good idea. Any help is appreciated

The height is what matters, your right. So you will need to make sure you do not exceed the maximum depth or the glass will not hold. here is a calculator. You just plug in the numbers and it will give a safety suggestion. It is metric so you will have to do the conversion.

I've used often but since it will be an awkward shape I don't know how accurate it will be but I think with all the bracing from the plywood that it should hold well.

So did this build ever happen? I am thinking of doing the same thing.
